Articles IndexMaking Progress - Astrologically Your Personal Moon Cycles | Musings on Moon Signs© 2003 Janet Booth, updated 1/9/2013It seems like each time the Moon (the heavenly body in charge of eating and the stomach) passes by Jupiter (indicator of overdoing), I overeat. (And of course, that might not be the only times I overeat.) Maybe it’s because I have Jupiter Retrograde in Taurus in my natal chart. (Translation: a planet of excesses requiring relearning lessons about the love of the senses.) Now I’ve decided I should mark my calendar so that when this occurs, I can try to prevent endless repetition of this bad habit. Since anyone can be subject to urges to pig out when the Moon conjuncts Jupiter, I wanted to share this list with you. Here are those dates for 2013: Jan. 21, Feb. 17, March 17, April 13-14, May 11, June 8, July 6, Aug. 3, Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov 21, Dec. 18, and in early 2014: Jan. 14 and Feb. 10. It’s not a bad idea to be cautious the day before or after these dates, too. From the July date forward, Jupiter will be in Cancer, the sign ruled by the Moon and where Jupiter is said to be "exalted" (operating powerfully). This may further increase appetite! And why stop at the Moon conjunct Jupiter? After spending a good deal of a Saturday purging my apartment of stuff that should have gone to the trash long ago - doing so with the help of the Moon going through Scorpio (the sign of getting rid of what’s no longer needed) - it occurred to me that you might want to know good times for that, too. I don’t get motivated to go through the piles very often, but I do try to make myself do it once a month when the Moon gives a push in that direction for a couple days. These are the dates for 2013: Jan. 6-7, Feb. 2-3, March 1-3, March 29-30, April 25-26, May 22-24, June 19-20, July 16-17, Aug. 12-14, Sept. 9-10, Oct. 6-7, Nov. 2-4, Nov. 30-De. 1, Dec. 27-28. (You can find out the exact times the Moon enters Scorpio and leaves this sign when it moves into Sagittarius by checking on the daily pages of Janet’s Plan-its 2013 Celestial Planner.) Our Moon list should include optimum times for something else Moon-related, too – habits. New habits are best begun just after a New Moon. The best New Moon each year for sticking to new habits is generally the Taurus New Moon. In 2013, that will be on May 9 and it’s an Eclipse, even more potent than an ordinary New Moon! Other New Moons from in 2013 are: Jan. 11, Feb. 10, March 11, April 10, June 8, July 8, Aug. 6, Sept. 5, Oct. 4, Nov. 3 (Eclipse) and Dec. 2. Eclipses are the strongest kind of New Moon and indicate times for BIG changes. New Moon, Full Moon and Eclipse dates are listed in my Janet's Plan-its Calendars, or you can download my free 2013 On a Page pdf file. Eclipses are the strongest kind of New Moon and indicate periods for BIG changes. I hope you can make use of this information, and feel free to pass it along.
